We are excited to announce our annual Suicide Awareness Month, formerly known to students as “Not Another Aggie!" The suicide awareness and prevention program within University Health Services continues to recognize the need to raise awareness of resources, reduce the stigma of suicide, and increase interpersonal connections through programming at Texas A&M. Plan to join us for the Suicide Awareness Month Kickoff in Rudder Plaza on Wednesday, Sept. 6, starting at 6:00 p.m., to learn about resources, listen to speakers, and participate in activities and a walk through campus. Suicide Awareness Walk Challenge
We have collaborated with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to participate in the Walk Through Texas History program. Through this partnership, we have created a virtual route that features all of the Texas A&M System schools and highlights their counseling centers and efforts to support and promote mental wellness and suicide awareness & prevention within the TAMU System. Participants in the 4-week walk challenge will be able to create teams and sign up, starting August 22nd. The walk will be a month-long awareness challenge, starting September 1st - September 28th, allowing teams to track their steps and travel together on a virtual journey to each of the Texas A&M System schools.
Participants will stay connected with University Health Services and be provided weekly newsletters about additional events, resources and motivational tips to keep walking. Together, we will show support for people who are struggling, raise awareness about suicide, and walk in honor of those we have lost to suicide.
