Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
As a therapist, I utilize integrated multicultural and feminist approaches in my work with clients. I recognize the importance of addressing social identities, and how experiences associated with these identities impact psychological wellbeing. In addition, I also believe in creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship and empowering the client to identify areas in their lives where they have more power and control.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
As an immigrant Black woman, issues of diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to my lived experience and my clinical practice. I believe that all identities and experiences are deserving of respect, have value, and contribute to the richness of our communities. Cultural humility is essential in creating supportive and welcoming spaces, especially for people with marginalized identities.
Approach to Supervision
I see supervision as an opportunity to learn and also to teach. I consider it a great privilege to be able to be part of another person’s clinical process, and work to create a caring, non-judgmental and collaborative environment in supervision. I enjoy when I am able to bring parts of my non-clinical self into the supervision space, as I believe that authenticity births growth and progression.
Personal Interests
When I am not providing clinical services, I greatly enjoy trying new foods, watching historical drama/fiction, reading, writing and watching soccer! I also love a great intimate hangout with close friends and family!
