Coffee with a Counselor provides a unique opportunity for students at Texas A&M University to ask questions and learn more about the counseling process and resources such as Counseling & Mental Health Care. It allows a positive interaction between students and counselors in a relaxed and informal environment, while increasing students’ knowledge of their overall wellness.
Coffee with a Counselor is sponsored by The Suicide Awareness & Prevention Unit in an effort to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and improve visibility and connection within the campus community.
Although this is NOT an individual counselling session, this is an opportunity to engage with a mental health professional and discuss strategies for self-care in order to give you the tools to achieve your academic goals!
How It Works:
Students are invited to register and select an individual 15-minute discussion at the location and time that works best for you. For the individual discussions, there will be three counselors available to strategize with students and Suicide Awareness & Prevention members will be present to provide additional support.
Students will be provided a half-sheet at the discussion location where they will initial a document informing them that we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of the conversations that occur during this event.
A single Starbucks coffee beverage will be provided FREE to all participants.
Note: Spaces are limited and registration is first come, first serve.
