As a bilingual, Mexican woman, I believe that every space should be welcoming to all backgrounds, cultures, identities, lifestyles and passions to name a few. It begins with understanding our own ignorances and being willing to learn and emerge ourselves in different cultures, backgrounds and walks of lives. The willingness to listen, understand and learn makes us better human beings and more versatile health professionals. We ought to advocate and stand up for inclusivity and justice through our language, representations and actions, so that all people are seen, heard and valued. I like to think that I create relationships with others on the premise of respecting differences and valuing growth. As a society, we ought to be culturally competent to provide services that are rich in diversity and serve the greater good.
