Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
Integrative approach incorporating person-centered and solution focused theories often utilizing interpersonal process and emotion-focused techniques. Professional interests include trauma work (dating and interpersonal violence, sexual assault, childhood trauma), relationship concerns, grief, identity development, stress management, resiliency, self-esteem/self worth issues.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
I consider myself a lifelong learner in all areas, especially those on diversity and inclusion. I value diversity and difference and see the importance of exploring this in my work with clients, trainees and in my personal life. I strive for cultural competence and cultural humility in an effort to be truly present, engaged and connected with my client’s, colleagues, trainees and others I meet. This is a lifelong journey but one in which I am passionate about. I aim to use my voice to advocate for the oppressed and bring to light aspects of racism and discrimination.
Approach to Supervision
My hope is to foster a safe and supportive environment for trainees to grow professionally, become more confident in their work with clients and to trust their own clinical judgement. I encourage trainees to try new techniques and challenge themselves in ways to deepen their work with clients. I strive to help trainees grow into their own professional identity and see how their unique qualities can impact their work. I value the clinical perspective of the trainee and hope to foster a non-judgmental environment for trainees to reflect on personal reactions and how these reactions and differences may impact their work with clients. I appreciate personal reflection and investment from the trainee in their supervision experience.
Personal Interests
I love spending time with my family, listening to live music, reading and lounging. When we vacation, we like to snow ski and enjoy a fun trip to the beach!
