Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
I approach counseling from a multifaceted viewpoint, with a passion for working with college students.. My clinical interests include relationships, personal growth/identity development, self worth/self esteem issues, career exploration and helping students manage their stress. I understand the competitive nature of state credentialing examinations and the pressure applicants face. I take a person centered, acceptance and commitment approach to therapy. Creating a positive, safe environment, while accepting what is behind and committing to moving forward.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
As an African American woman, issues of diversity, equity and inclusion are integral as to lived experiences and clinical practice. To create a supportive and welcoming space, It is important to me that all differences are valued and respected with cultural humility and inclusivity.
Approach to Supervision
I see supervision as a provision of a well rounded, nurturing and trusting experience. It is an honor for me to serve as teacher/consultant/counselor in the supervisee’s clinical process, and I strive to create a balanced and collaborative environment that allows the trainee to explore their strengths spurring them towards a healthy progression of growth in mental health and wellness arenas. I am passionate about self compassion and self care as it is vital to the development of a practitioner.
Personal Interests
When not providing clinical services, I enjoy reading, creative expression and traveling. My most favorite activity is spending time with my family and creating lifelong memories.
