Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
I strive to hold a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space for students to be themselves as I believe this helps create an effective therapeutic relationship between counselor and student. I approach counseling from a holistic perspective and use an integrative approach that includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness. My clinical interests include personal growth, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and grief.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
I believe that increased self-awareness and educating others on how we can contribute to the support of marginalized groups is the foundation that can break stigma, increase understanding of social justice, and implement the necessary action to reduce oppression and cultivate diversity. I commit myself to listen to your personal experience, provide a safe space where you can be yourself, and join you in the ever-lasting fight for respect, fairness, and equity.
Approach to Supervision
As a supervisor, I have the responsibility to foster personal and professional growth for my supervisees throughout their supervision experience. This is established by creating a collaborative and supportive relationship that allows my supervisees to grow professionally and become confident in the counseling skills they are developing. I use the Common Factors Discrimination model to create a structured, relationship-centered approach to supervision.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy engaging in anything that contributes to my self-care and personal growth including spending time with my four children and my husband, catching up with my friends, crafting, reading, watching television and taking family trips.
