Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
I view the counseling relationship as a collaborative journey to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being. My primary goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space where clients feel comfortable to identify and explore challenges and create solutions to improve their lives. I am passionate about helping students navigate this exciting and sometimes overwhelming time in life successfully. My approach to therapy is an eclectic one that includes exploring connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while also addressing some of the deeper questions about life purpose and meaning. My professional interests include supporting mental health professionals’ well-being in the field and supporting the professional development of student counselors.
Victor Frankl says, “those who have a why to live can bear with almost any how.”
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
I believe everyone deserves the right to be seen and heard. I am an optimist and I believe we can work together to create a better world for the next generations. I believe this requires a commitment from each of us to do our part. One way we can implement this is remaining open to new possibilities and new ways of doing things in our own lives.
Approach to Supervision
One thing I love about the counseling field, is we are life-long learners. There is always something new to learn. My approach to supervision includes a collaborative learning experience. My goal is to help new students and trainees grow personally and professionally. I strive to provide a safe space for counseling students and trainees to explore different approaches, modalities, and techniques and find what works best for them. The professional counselor journey is exciting and challenging. My goal is to come alongside and offer guidance and support.
Personal Interests
My personal interests include working out, spending time with family and friends, and traveling when I can. I also love going to the movies any time I can.
