Disability Resources staff members interact and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to achieve an equitable learning environment for students with disabilities at Texas A&M University.
Kyle Field adheres to ADA rules and has disabled parking, shuttles, elevators, family/ special needs restrooms, and seating.
The Career Center works with Disability Resources to provide assistance and resources to students with disabilities. Both departments also educate our staff members to better serve the unique needs of students with disabilities who are planning for their careers and seeking employment opportunities.
Aggie Adaptive Sports facilitates adaptive sports as a healthy form of recreation to students, veterans, and community members in an effort to promote the physical and mental benefits that adaptive sports possess.
Aggies on the Spectrum was established in January 2017 with the purpose of offering social opportunities, support and educational resources for individuals on the autism spectrum, students, staff and faculty at Texas A&M as well as for the Bryan-College Station community. Their goals are as follows:
- To cultivate the experiences of our members through service learning and enhance their social capital through networking.
- To promote acceptance and share positive, respectful and accurate information about autistic people.
- To increase self-advocacy and leadership skills.
Deaf Aggies and Friends is a social group that promotes Deaf culture and the use of American Sign Language.
Insightful Connections (IC) promotes awareness about how people with visual impairments can live without limits. IC provides opportunities for visually impaired and sighted individuals to participate in service activities to advocate for accessibility and to educate the local community.
The Student Advisory Board provides a student voice to the administration of Disability Resources on matters of policy and procedure that governs the operation of Disability Resources. The role of the Student Advisory Board is to provide effective feedback on updates to services provided by the staff in Disability Resources and to provide suggestions for improvements to service delivery and general campus access.
Texas A&M College Diabetes Network is a group for students with type 1 diabetes and their friends/family where they meet to have fun and support one another. They do many fun things such as social events, fundraising, and getting to know other students with diabetes.
Disability Resources offers Spectrum in Aggieland. This initiative has components for students, faculty, and staff.
The intentions for this initiative are to provide a safe space for students on the Autism Spectrum, promote the education of faculty and staff about Autism, build social and community relationships, and share campus resources among participants.
