Workshops are opportunities to increase different coping skills and wellness habits aimed towards improving your mental health and wellbeing. You can learn practical tools to effectively manage concerns related to depression, anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships and more. CAPS is offering virtual workshops that will be facilitated by staff over the span of two to three weeks with opportunities for participants to ask questions and engage with the workshop materials.

Fall 2022 Workshop Schedule
2-Session Workshop Series
This two-session workshop is designed for students struggling to understand the nature of their painful emotions, and to help accept them as a valid part of their experience. The workshop will cover three primary skills – recognizing the emotion, understanding the value of the emotion, and accepting the emotion as part of their journey. Homework between sessions 1 and 2 will be an expected part of the experience.

This workshop is designed for students who are experiencing challenges in their relationships with others. Students will discuss ways to identify healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and cultivate more satisfying and supportive connections with others.

This workshop is designed for students who struggle with perfectionistic thinking. It will be focused on debunking the “myths” of perfectionism and how students can begin to identify their “inner critic.” Facilitators will discuss ways that students can begin to change their mindset from a “fixed” approach towards a more growth-oriented process.

Single Session Workshops
This workshop combines creativity with coping strategies to support your mental wellness journey. Participants will use arts-based activities to gain a deeper understanding of themselves while also developing positive coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, and improve mood.

This workshops is an overview of the cognitive triad and how physical symptoms impact the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. There will be an emphasis on learning how anxiety can be helpful as well as how to tell when relaxation strategies could be helpful in managing anxiety. Resources will be provided for students to practice relaxation on their own time.

Students will have the opportunity to anonymously submit real-life situations to discuss during the workshop. These examples will be used to practice setting and communicating healthy boundaries.
