Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests

My primary focus as a therapist is to meet the client where they are. My approach is eclectic, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and strength-based modalities. Through my work with individuals from various backgrounds, I am able to foster therapeutic relationships that promote growth and healing. My client is the expert on their lives, and my job is to bring awareness to feelings and values that are impacting how they view themselves and others. In therapy, I engage and challenge my client to dispute negative schema and to adopt positive coping strategies. This can lead to increased feelings of empowerment and self-efficacy.

My areas of expertise include traumatic exposures, problematic sexual behavior, and mood dysregulation.

Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice

As a therapist and Woman of Color, diversity and social justice are important to me. I strive to create a therapy space where all clients are met with unconditional positive regard. Opportunities to participate in advocacy activities for marginalized individuals is an extremely important part of who I am. I strive to engage in culturally sensitive dialogues with my clients to gain knowledge and understanding of events that have impacted their lives. I see my journey with cultural competence as a life long one that requires a commitment to growth and learning.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, with family and/or friends, reading, crafting, and shopping for shoes.
