Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
My approach to therapy is a collaborative one, with an emphasis on Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I believe client’s are the experts of their lives and may already have the skills to create change in their lives. It is my responsibility to help identify and develop those skills for therapeutic change. My professional Interests are Multicultural counseling, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, LatinX communities, brief/short-term therapy.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
Growing up in a Hispanic household, I strongly believe in the advantages diversity can bring to our community. I believe we should always continue to strive for multicultural competency, and evaluate where we hold power and privilege in order to check ourselves, and to help marginalized groups.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, traveling to different parts of the world and immersing myself in different cultures, swimming, and playing the piano.
