Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
I view counseling as a collaborative environment between the client and the counselor to help the client identify what is not working for them in their lives. My approach is centered around cognitive-behavioral techniques, meaning that I focus on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors affect each other. I also draw from psychodynamic and person-centered interventions and the integration of psychoeducation. My interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-exploration.
Personal Statement on Diversity and Social Justice
I am a firm believer in each person possessing inherent value. I strive to understand my privileges in life and how my values affect my work in counseling. I am also aiming for multicultural competency to promote an inclusive counseling environment for all who seek help.
In my free time, I love being with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, watching old movies, cooking and baking.
